Walk & Events

The annual MG Awareness Walk

The last Saturday of June, in Halifax. We were the first organisation on the East Coast to hold an MG walk, and in June 2026 we held our fifth.

When
The last Saturday of June
Where
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Who it's for
Anyone. People with MG, families, friends, and anyone who wants to know what those two words mean.

Walk with us

Exact date, start time and route for each year's walk go out to everyone who has registered interest, and go up here and on our social media.

Register now and you'll hear from us as soon as it's set — you're not committing to anything.

A rough number helps us plan. It doesn't hold you to it.

Accessibility needs, or anything that would make the day easier for you.

Volunteer

An organisation this size runs on people who show up. Registration tables, route marshalling, setting up and packing down, handing out pamphlets, taking photos, making tea.

If you have MG yourself and can only manage a seated job for an hour, say so — there is a seated job for an hour.

Including how much you can take on. Little is genuinely fine.

Sponsor the walk, or support the work

Organisations that want to sponsor an event can email us directly. If you'd like to give as an individual, the donate page explains exactly where it goes.

Presentations & Education

Invite us to present

We speak to workplaces, schools, community groups and healthcare teams about what myasthenia gravis is, what it looks like from the inside.

Presentations are given in person. Tell us who your group is and we'll find a date that works.

Approximate is fine.

Questions about the walk

  • How far is the walk, and can I do it with limited mobility?

The route is set so that people with myasthenia gravis can actually take part — that is the entire point of it. Come in a wheelchair, come with a walker, walk part of it and stop, or sit at the start and cheer.

Nobody is timing anybody. It is an awareness walk, not a race.

  • Do I need to have MG to join?

Not at all. Most people walking are family, friends, coworkers and neighbours. Bringing people who don't have MG is how awareness actually spreads.

  • Is there a registration fee?

Registration is by interest form and we'll send you the details for the year's walk. If you'd like to give something, the donate page explains how — but turning up costs nothing.

  • Can my organisation sponsor the walk?

Yes, and we'd be glad to hear from you. Email us and we'll talk about what makes sense — sponsorship for an organisation this size can be anything from covering the cost of pamphlets to supporting the whole event.

  • What does it cost to have you present to our group?

Nothing. Presentations are part of the awareness work and we don't charge for them. Fill in the request form and we'll find a date that works.
